FRAGRANCE INFORMATION

IT ALL STARTS WITH THE FRAGRANCE OIL

Fragrance oil is the key component in everything we do. For most scent projects, the fragrance oils are supplied to us by the customer.  This is because much of what we do is focused supporting a wide range of brands who advertise and sample their scented products.  These brands generally fall into categories such as home care, air care, and personal care. For these types of projects, we use the very same fragrance oil that is used to scent the products themselves.

For projects where there isn’t a fragrance oil already developed, we have a team of scent experts who are happy to provide support in the scent development process.

For these situations there are generally two options…

Stock Scents: For simple or quick turnaround projects, we offer a range of stock scents. This is a short list of scents that we keep in inventory and can ship with relatively short turn around.

Scent Library: We have a scent library of over a thousand different fragrances. This offers virtually unlimited creativity in the design of any scent development project. To help the development process, our team of scent experts can provide support and guidance in searching and choosing the best scent for your project.

Please contact us for more information regarding our Stock Scent and Scent Library list, as well as any technical questions or requirements relating to fragrance oils.

THE SCENT APPROVAL PROCESS

One of the first and most important steps in any active scent project is getting “a scent approval”. This is important because the scent approval process can take days or on some occasions many weeks, and we cannot begin the production process until the scent is approved.

On our side, once a fragrance is chosen, we would then supply drawdown samples of the fragrance in the same print coating, application process, and requirements that are specified for the job. In most cases, the drawdowns are provided at no cost. These drawdowns are then sent to the customer for approval.

Like color proofs, once a fragrance drawdown is approved it then becomes the standard that is used for production to match on press ensuring accuracy and consistency with customer expectations.

This process is employed on all scent coating projects, be it scented packaging, media, promotional materials, etc. So, it is important to contact us as early as possible in the planning process so we can provide help, direction and support in the scent development and approval process.
